Awkward and Awesome

Here are my awkward and awesome moments for the week (Inspired by E from E is Random who was inspired by Sydney at The Daybook):

Awkward

·         An impromptu office poll that revealed way too many people talk on their cellphone or home phone while in the restroom AND don’t see a problem with it. Ugh! Note to self: don’t use anyone’s cellphone anymore! (And just in case you missed my initial thoughts about restroom cellphone talking here's a link for you)

·         My stepfather and stepmother both experienced complications with their recent surgical procedures and had to seek medical attention. Fortunately they are both doing fine again.

·         Realizing that I have waaaay toooo many TV shows set to record on my DVR. When I was home for the weekend, I had to delete some recorded shows and cancel some series altogether. Sigh.

Awesome

·         Realizing that at least one person in my current office agrees with me that talking on a cellphone phone while in the restroom is a NO-NO!!!

·         Using the first class upgrades that I earned to fly first class this week!

·         Being warmly welcomed back by my co-workers after taking the past weekend off. I don’t know if my replacement was just that bad or if they really did miss me and my winning personality.

·         Officially starting my 3-Day fundraising! After sending out the initial email to previous (and hopefully future) donors, I generated $520 in donations in less than 24 hours!

Tuesday TV

Just when I didn't think that I could add anything else to my TV show line up, I found more shows to add!

One of my guilty pleasures is purchasing gossip magazines(People, Life & Style, and US Weekly) to read when flying on an airplane. During my last flight I found some new additions for my DVR:

• Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis - a couple of days ago I already wrote about my love of Jeff Lewis. Although his new show doesn't appear that it will be like Flippin' Out, I still think the Jeff I know and love won't disappoint with his quick wit and comments.
• Shahs of Sunset - yet another BRAVO show added to the line up. This show is about Persians living the fabulous life in Beverly Hills. I'm sure it will be a similar in format to The Real Housewives... series. Can't wait!
• Missing - An ABC show about a mother looking to find her son. I'll admit the main draw is Ashley Judd since I am a huge fan of hers. We'll how long this shows lasts.
• Fashion Star - I don't know how long this show will keep my attention. After researching it a bit more, I think this might be like Project Runway, which unfortunately doesn't do much for me.

And if that wasn't enough, I realized that one of my favorite shows, Fairly Legal, begins its new season this week. The shows main charter, Kate Reed (played by Sarah Shahi) was a lawyer who decided to become a mediator in her father's business after he died unexpectedly. To make thinks more interesting, she has a stepmother who doesn't appear to be too much older than her, and she is has an interesting relationship with her soon-to-be ex-husband. Kate Reed's character is fun and the story line is pretty good too. If you ever watched the L Word on showtime, Sarah Shahi played a charter named Carmen.

I know you might be wondering, 'Just how much space does her DVR have?' I'm probably pressing the limits right about now, especially since I'll be away from home the next few weeks.

(Seriosuly, I'm just curious...obviously I already watch too much TV as it is!)

He's Baaaaaaaaaaack!!!

Some of my closest friends know that I love, love, LOVE Jeff Lewis! Every since I saw my first episode of Flipping Out, I became the biggest Jeff Lewis fan. I feel like he's my alter ego...he's says whatever is on his mind. And if I could find the nerve to say whatever was on my mind, I would be the female version of Jeff Lewis. And he's soooooo handsome.

And yes, he does smile. But I like this look.

Imagine my disappointment when I realized he's gay (as if I had a chance with him, now I really don't have a chance!).  But how can you not fall in love with those eyes, those lips...

I digress...

Anyway, I'm such a fan that I even bidded on a portrait of Jeff. During one of his season, he had a self portrait that hung on the wall behind him. (I think he loves himself too!). He decided to sell it and give the proceeds to two animal rescue charities, and well, I had to bid on it. Unfortunately I didn't win, but I can still look at the picture:

Well, Jeff is back with a new show 'Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis'. Can't wait to see Jeff next week. If you're interested in seeing what my fascination is with Jeff, tune into Bravo TV next Wednesday!

TV, Anyone?

Do you have a favorite TV night? I finally figured out that my night for TV is Tuesday night! Here's my line up (in no particular order):

Real Housewives of Orange County - I know, I know as some of you roll your eyes. For some reason the Real Housewives series is my guilty pleasure. And the Real Housewives of Orange County are probably my favorite! Who doesn't like to watch ladies of leisure complain about their lives and make us wonder how they really make money?

The Game - The Game is back for another season after it was cancelled, and then returned with a less then stellar season. In case you've never seen it, you can find it on BET. It's about a fictional football team in San Diego and the players and their wives and probably covers just about all of the sterotypes you can think of about ballers and their lifestyles.

Let's Stay Together - This show is in it's second season on BET and airs right after The Game. It started out about one couple who is married, one couple who is dating, and then a girl who is single. Now both of the couples are married and the single gal has gone off to be on Survivor (a.k.a. having a baby in real life).

Southland - This is a police drama that comes on TNT. I never did watch the show when it came on one of the major networks. I found it sometime last year when I was channel surfing late at night and was immediately hooked! The new season just started and I can't wait to see what will happen next. Very interesting mix of characters and storylines.

Flashpoint - This is another police drama. It wasn't until recently that I found out the show is filmed in Canada. (I thought it was filmed in Seattle, go figure). The show is about a fictional Strategic Response Unit and has a great story line that captures you in the first few minutes of each episode. And what's pretty cool about the show it that all of the major actors are Canadian, except for the female lead.

Inkmaster - As if I didn't already have enough shows to watch on Tuesday night, I just added Inkmaster to my Tuesday rotation this week. Inkmaster is a tattoo competition show. From looking at me, no one usually guesses that I have a fascination with tattoos or that I have been tattooed five times. Secretly I have always wanted to be a tattoo artist but my lack of drawing skills continues to hold me back form pursuing my dream. And after watching a few episodes of this show, I now know what to look for in my next tattoo artist.

Glee - I almost forgot this show! I only started watching Glee a little over a year ago. The quick wit and humor are what drew me in. Sometimes the singing can be a bit much for me, but I do enjoy most of their versions of popular songs.

Ringer - Last, but not least is Ringer. This is a show of many twists and turns about identical twin sisters (and some bad acting from time to time, which includes really fake backgrounds). One sister was running away from her past, only to have her twin die (OK, fake her death) and then resume the dead sister's life. And guess what? The 'dead' sister is back and now their lives are starting to cross. It still hasn't been revealed why the one sister faked her death in the first place.

I know this seems like a LOT of TV to watch in one evening (OK, period!). Thankfully I have a DVR and I record all of the shows and watch them at my leisure (usually after they have recorded so I can fast forward through the commercials).

Certainly, I'm not the only TV junkie out there....what are you watching?
